dont forget that the only building roches practice designed in the original proposal was the confrence certre. the rest was just a masterplan and the poorly finished, slaped together computer simulation put everyone off, most people believed what the plan showed was what would be built there. I feel that STWs current plan looks no better, even worse as it is a similar plan yet makes poor use (low density) of this prime city land. Roche repeatly stated during the original planning process that most of the rest of the buildings on spencer dock would be left to international design compitions so who knows , it probably would haved looked good.
isnt there also a route planned 2 link Ballymun/Blanchardstown/Lucan/Tallaght? Where in blancharstown will this line run through as i doubt all of this line will be underground.How foolish was it not to provide space for a metro line and stations in the major shopping centres and surburban certres around dublin like most ‘proper’ countries! Are the trying 2 prevent us from getting around?
has anybody got info on more spectacular bridges planned for the future in ireland? esp. on the proposed motorways, eg. the M3
correct me if i’m wrong but i heard recently on a radio show that the brick front(but not the rest of the building) on the 1916 building is not the one which was there in 1916 and was actually rebuilt in the 20s/30s.
