ParticipantThere are some interesting buildings on it – the former fire station and one of two large houses that look like they predate it as a street and were built when it was a country lane. Most of it is vernacular dross however.

ParticipantDo you feel embarassed by Dublin? A friend of mine recently returned from a weekend in Manchester and has been going on about how well they spent money in comparison to here. And I agree, Manchester has a civic pride missing here. Civic pride in Dublin seems to be restricted to “look how mouldy everything is, isn’t it great?”

ParticipantI saw one yesterday – where the Minima store on Stephen’s Green used to be. It’s certainly bright, as we could see it from some distance away. Didn’t get close enough to take in the details.

ParticipantSaw the gates on Fishamble Street yesterday — not great looking but nowhere near as clunky as the gates on Meetinghouse Square, — especially those at Rory Gallagher Corner.

ParticipantA great suggestion, the buildings are still in good condition and even as an adult I find the surrounding ditch and shape exciting.
In the hands of an architectural competition, the city could acquire something very exciting and innovative. Its shape would allow innovative architects to shine.

ParticipantHenry Street is interesting in that above street level, there is some pretty good architecture (and some really dire pieces like HSamuels) but the quality of the shopfronts is almost universally awful.
What does people think of the resurfacing and street furniture installed?

ParticipantThe old Pelican House while perhaps not the most loved building in Dublin was at least interesting. My old secondary school had definite design elements copied from it.
