What is happening is that the trees along the outside are being cut down, and immediately replaced with smaller, similar trees.

A very neat job and nearly done this morning on the Iveagh House side.

Illumination is being thrown on it?

The wood now has rectangular Sodium type light fittings attached to the top at a slightly oblique angle.

    Dear me.

Surely everyone in Kilkenny supports the naming of estates after such lovely persons as Tiffany Amber Theissen? so much more relevant than Councillor O’Sleazbag Gardens, appearing regularly at the District Court.
Perhaps each new estate should be named after a type of Cat?

All a load of Ballsbridge to me, what really irritates me are the tree free Pineviews or Hazel Downs that stud the landscape.

5 minutes walk to Kingsbridge Station?

Well some parts of it I suppose, assuming that you can cross the road.

Sadly this is one more American import.

In New York, in particular, many firms try to restrict exterior, lobby or any interior photographs. Reasons are rarely given, you are more likely to get the bums rush than an answer. Security and, nowdays, intellectual property rights are cited.

You will even hear them say they own the “copyright” of the image of the building.

This trend is beginning to follow American, financial services firms to Ireland. Too many underemployed security guards is a contributory factor.

Of course if you were being mugged or raped down in the IFSC, the same SWAT time would be having tea in the hut.

Two photos of part of the same building seem to be on p28 of
“A nostalgic look at Belfast Trams” by Mike Maybin. If so,

Old photo, no date but probably c1940’s, shows it as Berris’s furniture showroom.

Later photo, 1994 shows it empty and for sale.
Cannot trace it in UAHS “Central Belfast” book.Do you have street number.

A little off topic but regarding your query.
Dublin Fire Brigade is run by Dublin Corporation, they are the persons who would hold service records for firemen (as they all were then) and you should try them. Information about living persons may not be available. They have a website, archives dept etc.

Have a look at some of the Irish Genealogy websites for more details about researching your ancestors.

    Thanks Paul – good work.
I actually have that book, which is excellent but I find it hard to navigate and must have missed that reference.

A new page has been added to the Art Deco Ireland site about this cinema. I still do not know who designed it (Robinson & Keefe?) or when it closed. Can anyone help here with local knowledge?

Same story in relation to Aviation, no aviation museum either in the Republic.

A small display in Foynes, museums at Waterford and earlier at Dublin Airport dispersed.

Once again Ulster says yes while Ireland says nothing.

I have to say you are a tolerant soul to take the slagging you got with such grace.

I am a member of An Traiskey myself but being a member of the Knights of Malta might be more relevant in dealing with the redevelopers. An Fashce has found Victorian, coming after Georgian, but has no view on 20th century architecture.

No, there are some very fine mills and grain stores out there. Largely untouched and sinking into dereliction until recently.
A lot of potential and just about enough space to keep books. Try the canals in rural Ireland for lots more.

Sadly some of the more recent conversions are grim, pastic window jobs.

I hope you wiped your feet on the mat that saved Ireland from F&M after your encounter with a dead cow.

    Lost artwork query earlier

The building mural,”The Shannon Basin” by Sean Keating, which was painted on board in sections, and in total size was 9.1m X 24.4m does not seem to have been taken back from New York.
