If in a few years time the room was there behind the ‘little end’ to expand, how big and difficult a job would it be? while the statium does look great from outside, that small end just looks odd

Unfortunately it seems that the only people who recognise that there is a real opportunity for Cork to develop significantly are Corkonians! In general Dublin seems to be the only place that the governement properly care about.

Surely if the NRA are objecting to development on the grounds that the roads can’t handle it, that means it is time to fix the roads! Similar to the objections about the relocation of the port to Ringaskiddy, the road and rail links were too poor. No way can we fix those roads ! haha but lets built an unnecessary Metro for €5bn, wonderful!
I would quite like a Chinatown in Cork, a great bunch of lads.

Surely with the council investing €8 million and planning permission already granted Howard Holdings can start our arena?
After that maybe the GAA will redevelop Pairc Ui Chaoimh seems as the council are going to give them some showground land.

Surely giving them the showground land is conditional on redevelopment and not just giving it to them in the hope that they might decide at some stage to redevelop the stadium and area!

University Cllege Cork have applied to CCC for permission to construct a new pedestrain bridge across the south channel of the river Lee, linking the Brookfield Health Sciences Complex on the south side of the river to the former Greyhound Race Track on the northern side.
UCC have permission to develop an Information Technology building at the Greyhound Track site. Issues of funding for this (IT building) project are still being sorted out.

Does anyone know if this bridge was built as part of the IT building? And does anyone have any pictures?

Where is all this talk of google moving to Cork coming from?
Google currently have quite nice office space in Grand Canal Dock in Dublin. If Howard Holdings or some other Developer were to build large corprate office space in the docklands who is to say that google or any other large company based in Dublin or elsewhere would move their base to Cork?
The only real hope for attracting these types of companies is to attract companies not yet based in Ireland to set up in Cork when they do move here. This isn’t likely to happen for a good few years
