Yes there have been some minor improvements like the new enterence to the park. However the more expensive parts of the plan such as new paving and bus bays seem to have gone the way of the Millenium Clock. I always thought it was horrible for the buses to stop on front of those Georgian Buildings. I’d rather if they stopped on a central median/traffic Island similar to the inbound Abbey Street luas stop

Great to hear IÉ taking somw initiative for a change. I really hope they introduce Double tracking between Ceannt and Athenry. A single track wouldn’t have a hope in hell of accomidating Commuter services to Athenry and intercity services to Dublin and Limerick

I share your confusion about this entire project, it could have been half way finished by now.

Is this redevolpement going ahead. This thread is 3 years old and all we have is a new canopy over the rotunda’s main enterence. No trees no reduction in parking no granite paving no improved bus bays

Luas line F terminating at college green and possibly being extended to the South Docks is only one of two options. The other option is having it terminate at Stephen’s green.Busses parking in the City Center is awful. Parnell Square is used as a bus station as it is, when they should be expected to to park at Sumerhill depot. Also having all those bus stop and masses of people waiting at them on a narrow foot path onfront of historic Georgian houses across from the Rotunda looks diabollical. I find the more I look at it, the more embaressed I am in fear that there is a tourist seeing the same thing.

It is encouraging to see that the O’Connell Street stop will only be 50-100m from the Abbey St Luas stop.

    50-100m? try 10-20m

well I always thought the luas should be seperated entirely from road traffic and should have right of way at road junctions. having line F terminate on Dame Street is a mistake it would be better if it continued down College street and connected with both Dart lines at Pearse and possibly continue into the south docks.
Missaarchi, what do you have against crayons?

It looks really great and the integrating with the city PDF file shows the first proposed route for luas line D that I’ve ever seen, No thanks to the RPA. I live in the area and I’ll be happy to see this being developed. Does anyone know what time frame we’re looking at?

I didn’t mean any offence, I just ment to express my opinion that public transport is important to the area and it sould be maintained and it would incentivise people to use public transport if it could go to places that the private car can’t

the railings around the old underground toilet at that junction are really lovely. I think that’d be a wonderful location for an enterence to the O’Connell Bridge metro station. It reminds me of the Parisian metro stations. I’m all for pedestrianisation but I still think there should be a bus lane or two and a reserved space for the luas

I notice how in the picture of one of the undergroung stations, the sign said exit in Engish only. some of the pictures above the Irish section appear to be of metro west on an elevated structure

I am of course refering to the fact that a decision was due a long time ago but the board said they needed more time because of all the paper work and as a result, the decision was delayed.
