I have to agree with PTB about Galway!

My two joint favourites , and the most beautiful in the country in my opinion, are the Rock of Cashel and the cathedral in Cobh. St. Finbar’s in Cork is nice but I find these two breath-taking. But I also like St. Nickolas’ in Galway and St. Patrick’s in Cork as well.

What would be the 10 most beautiful churches/cathedrals in Ireland?

I bet we’ll be waiting another month before work will start again. Is it true that Kingston was paid a million euros just last Friday?

I’m not boasting. Having only 100 posts is hardly something to boast about. I was just happy to reach 100.

From this picture, you’d think the GPO was small and nothing special.
It would be nice to start a thread about Galway city and county, don’t you agree?

Can’t wait for the skyscraper near Heuston Station to be finished. Let’s hope more will come!

Are there any beautiful Georgian doors outside of Dublin?

You can make out what it will look like in November. It will be great to use the park again.

Whooley’s Pharmacy in Sandymount has an Art Nouveau facade. I don’t know about the interior but would that be suitable?

Thanks munsterman for the pictures of Clonmel. I was beginning to think that no one was going to show pictures of the town. I have to say that I really like the pictures of Cork. Isn’t it better to praise than to be complaining about the architecture of Ireland?

Thanks. But is there one doorway that you especially admire in Dublin?

Isn’t Trim Castle in Trim, Co. Meath, one of the largest castles in Europe?

Mabe I’m just being patriotic, but there should be more World Heritage Sites in Ireland. I would suggest the Rock of Cashel, Clonmacnoise and the BOI on College Green, to name a few. Can anyone else mention someplace that they would like to see being a World Heritage Site?

How can landscapes be World Heritage Sites? I can understand how city centres would be, due to their architecture.

I’m a bit surprised that the Bank of Ireland on College Green isn’t a World Heritage Site. It was the first purpose built parliament house for two chambers, the Houses of Commons and Lords, in the world.
