My own experience was as you suggest – started in a small firm & got paid a pittance for circa 3 years BUT I got to work on all aspects of practically every job in the office – you can’t buy experience like that.

You get the chance to see every aspect of the profession from the start ( ie fecked in at the deep end) rather than spending three years in a large practice drawing up planning applications, window schedules etc ad nauseum.

Do yourself a favour – keep the purse-strings tight for another couple of years (you’re bound to be well use to it by now!) and get some exposure to the brutal reality of the business – IMHO you’ll be a far more competant professional at the end of it.

PS: If you want a 9-5 job & want to be successful (read rich), I’d suggest you look for another career 😀

    Cheers

    @ Phil

Yeah Phil, we went through a full consultation with the neighbouring property owners and reorganised the development a number of times – addressing their voiced concerns and ensuring minimal impact on their properties, however they still felt the need to object to the application – fair enough I suppose, but when you’ve spent a large amount of (your) time and money trying to facilitate people who are just not prepared to compromise, then I think you’ve deserved the right to brand them NIMBY’s!

No hassle getting the till receipt btw…

    Cheers,

Thanks for comments guys – it’s pretty much the conclusion I’d reached myself however, client has asked me to formally request the receipt.

    @ Wexfordplanner:
From your own experience are there any problems/issues in getting a copy of the receipt or is it a fairly standard request?

    Thanks again,

    burge,

I think you’re spot on re recruitment agencies – hence the post! I was just hoping that someone in my position had had a better experience with some of the smaller companies & could recommend same.

I suppose you could be correct re overseas staff however, any ones that have applied to work here have either (1) Crap english or/and (2) zero irish experience & would require constant supervision initially in order to get them up to speed with regs and proceedures – This may be okay in a large office environment, but not where there are limited senior staff available to supervise.

Why not email me – you sound like just the caliber of person we’re after! 😀

We are currently based in North Dublin. Within easy reach of Airport and city. On a major bus route, with good amenities in the locality. Feel free to contact me if you can recommend any agencies or staff.

    Thanks.
