m3tolls is slightly disingenuous in his assertion that the M3 will be tolled twice. While there will be two toll plazas on the M3, the NRA are incorporating a split-toll approach to the M3 whereby the full toll, estimated in the NRA tolling documents at €1.75, is to be split between the two toll plazas, estimated to charge €0.875 each, so that only drivers that pass the full length of the M3 pay a charge similar to the existing single-toll charges on the M1 and M50.

I wasn’t aware that marching down O’Connell Street was in anyway less desirable or enjoyable than marching up it. How are the ‘people taking part in it’ in anyway slighted or made to be ‘less important’ than the ‘image of the spectacle’?
How can you find it anymore insulting than the lighting used in the earlier part of the scheme? Its EXACTLY the same as the lighting used in the initial phase.
Metropolis – it’s just another word for the capital city of a country or the chief city of a province or region. The term is as applicable to Dublin as it is to New York, Harare, Riga or Edinburgh.

It’s being funded through a Danish version of the PPP, a Public-Public Partnership between Copenhagen City (55 %) and the State (45 %).
The construction is financed by loans that will be paid back in 25-30 years.The system will have 24 stations when completed. The first phase has taken 6 years to complete and the whole system won’t be ready until 2007.
