ParticipantShelbourne to change
DUBLIN’S Shelbourne Hotel is to lose its name within months. The 196-room, five-star, city-centre hotel, which has been a feature of Dublin life for the past 182 years, is to be renamed the Meridian (Dublin) by its owners, the British Granada group. The move is part of the chain’s decision to rename 300 hotels worldwide to Meridian. So whats in a name? is losing the name THE SHELBOURNE detrimental to the history and ciltural fabric of Dublin?

ParticipantDont worry.
One more turn of the economic merry-go-round and the suits in Meridian, will divest or deaquisition and it can revert to the Shelbourne name again. How many names have been associated with the Belfast Europa?

ParticipantIt would be very sad to lose it’s name but it’s all part of capitalism and our new found wealth. Things change!
