      Hello,
I am a postgraduate student at the Mackintosh School of Architecture and I am doing my Dissertation on the Villa E.1027 by Eileen Gray, Located in Roquebrune Capt Martin, it is sited along side Le Corbusier’s Le Cabonon. I need to get access to the villa for some measured drawings/ photographs. I am aware that the Villa is currently inaccessible due to future refurbishment.

Does anybody know of any contacts within the French government and/ or the local authority, so that I may gain access to the villa for a short space of time? Thanks

      Sean

Sean, there was a documentary on RTE television a few months back. In it there was discussion of those responsible for its renovations. Info on the programme here:

There are models of the house (along with a few others) in the Irish Architectural Archive on Merrion Square in Dublin.

      Good luck with it.

There have been some threads here on it before- do a search for it using the name of the building.

Also, iirc, a guy called Patrick Mallett (?) was instrumental in keeping it in the public consciousness in the mid-1990s, possibly with the input of the Irish College in Paris, though I could be wrong about the latter part of that.

Lastly, I heard that it was possible just to walk up to / in to it, though that may have changed in more recent times.

      Some results:

If Searching, remember to use “E.1027” rather than “E-1027”. 😉

Yeah, there was homeless people living in it after the last resident died. Apparently they wrecked it.

So many E.1027 threads to choose from…

Anyway, The Architect’s Eye on RTE Radio 1 is covering E.1027 tonight at 10pm. It’s probably available on the RTE website after the fact too.
