ParticipantHi,
I’m very interested in purchasing a propert that has been unused for over 10 years.
The property in not registered and the council do not own it.
I’m searching the Register of Deeds, but to no avail.
The problem is now that after making the council aware of the property, they seem to be going after it as well.
Any thoughts on how to aquire it?
Thanks for any help

InactiveTalk to a Solicitor,
Would be the first piece of advice very few practices do not have a specialist property solicitor. There are three steps necessary to acquire untitled property but the short answer is it wouldn’t be fully yours for 33 years. Should you get first mover advantage on excluding others from entering the land.
Getting the relevant ordanance survey maps and cross referencing thoms commercial directory going back say 40 years would give you a clearer picture.

ParticipantAlso be aware that the State may own the property, if there are no known heirs of the previous owners, now dead.
