ParticipantSo Harry Crombie and the DDDA are going to go another round. I think my money is on Harry Crombie this time. Does anyone know the area better than me, any opinions?

ParticipantIs this the former Tropical Fruit Company building? The two carved heads on the facade were originally part of James Gandon’s Carlisle (now O’Connell) Bridge, before it was widened at the end of the 19th century.
To be clobbered not once, but twice, by road widening! Is this a record?

ParticipantThanks for clarifying that Paul, twas all a bit vague.
I know the building that they are on about. Not the tropical fruit company thank goodness, but having just moved down to the area (Winter garden – one of the best Apartment blocks I have seen in Dublin) I was sitting in the “Ocean” bar in the Millenium Tower and thinking how nice it would be to be able to walk all the way around the Grand Canal Basin but Harry Crosbie’s House would be in the way. I can see both sides on this one. Don’t think they should go mad with CPO’s though.
On a side note has anybody noticed the refurbished mill in the centre of the IAWS group on the other side of Pearse Street Bridge. Looks interesting – had heard that the rest of the mills were going to be turned into loft style apartments – anybody know anything on that one?

ParticipantSorry for the confusing initial message, I wrote it straight after reading the Irish Times article. It was obvious to me what I was talking about, but in retrospect, not so obvious to anyone else.
