ParticipantI note Dublin’s most infamous and historic hotel has lodged a planning application to extend their premises by a whopping 88 bedrooms.
They propose to demolish a 4 storey ancillary building to the rear of the hotel and replace it with a 6 storey structure with a 2 storey penthouse roof, (ie an 8 storey building, no twisting the facts please) which will contain 88 bedrooms, a 90sq metre conference room (is that big?) a laundry room and various other ancillary rooms. Interesting they’re still going ahead with it in light of the world economy, esp in the top end of the market and being such an established , well, establishment!Wonder what the plans are like, cause if you think I’m trekking down to Wood Quay for that…
I’m sure the Department of Agriculture are delighted with the news…

ParticipantThe exterior of the extension is now becoming visible, it appears to be the usual fake copper upper floors thing. It can be seen over the roof of the old part of the Shelbourne Hotel in St Stephen’s Green and looks out of place to be honest
