++ The Law Library – Church Street ++

The law Library have two buildings on Church street.
The first is opposite the bridewell garda station and I think it was designed by P. Leech and the second (at the spar shop)was by Brian O’Halloran and associates (the Distillery building)-I think the model for the scheme is in the reception area (this was featured in the Irish Architect previously)

The model is indeed in the reception of the distillary building (which has recently lost a letter from its signage). Most of that building cannot be seen as its an old granary building for the dirtsillary and runs away from the street – a beautiful conversion with a small modern building at the front (the modern extensions I am not so keen on).

you’re right Jas about the building onto Church street-too fussy
The ugly exposed ducting above the woolsack looks like an afterthought.
I believe that the offices in the granary building have been likened to cells due to the lack of natural lighting (use of the existing opes in the external wall)

Law Lib:

Lot of work going on up there at the mo’ – scaffolding transcending the adjacent cobbled stree, front of the library all scaffolded up, 2 (18/19C.) houses now without rooves at corner of laneway. Maybe this has popped up already on another thread and I haven’t seen it, but can anyone at all please tell me, wots goin’ on??? Happy Easter.

Yep thats it all right. It appears that the scaffolding has multiplied since I was last there – it’s taken on a life-form of its own and has extended itself around onto Church Street. Roof is gone from the pub and adjacent building, while the law lib and spar have been swallowed by scaffolding. Are strange beings from Fraggle Rock working down there at night, or can anyone tell me whats going on there?
