The Cow Parade

i think it reflects well on dublin too, i have seen this thing before in nyc, chicago and toronto and in toronto it completely took over, the toronto street scape is so bland the painted moose (they had moose) seemed overdone. they didn’t work so well in chicago either, but in dublin, as in nyc, you come upon them mixed up with everything else and they are a nice suprise.

in nyc there was a cow scandal because david lynch’s cow: “eat my fear” was withdrawn because it upset children; leading to lots of what is the purpose of public art soul searching.

The cow on Westmoreland Street had its wings pulled off by some idiot.
I love the one outside the Merron Hotel.

I have come across two cows now and both are broken. Westmoreland St and Liffey St @ the Woollen Mills.

The cows art installation is great for the city….the cow with the wings looked surrealistically angelic.

It is amazing the way we suffer here from an extremely high vandalism rate. It is like the way a delux car when after it has been robbed is burnt out…..or a newly planted sapling tree is snapped in half. In my native locality of Ballyfermot …we had a bus shelter erected 3 times and on each occasion it was burnt down. Why is this so……Is it true then that most Irish are really ‘thick’.

to be fair, they do get vandalised in other cities too, and, always, dublin city centre has people living in it and going out in it.

Any listings for all the Cows are located??

i like them too and if i had my way i’d leave them there forever. it’s a good idea i think. the cows are something different in our city. who ever thought of such an idea in the first place? cool i have to say. they do add to the city in a nice way. they are also cute looking.

well its a commercial company that does it in different cities, its been going on for about four years now.
