Hi did anything more ever come out of the georges quay draft masterplan or was it just dropped?

They said late last year it would be announced early 2009- knocking down hawkins house, route through to Tara street station etc?

Does anyone have any images of what was proposed? Thanks

The Plan was on public display quite recently. I am sure it was discussed on the forum as well.

yeh DCC employed missarchi to do it 😉

Is it State-owned land? I’m sure there’ll be a TSGQDA set up to sort it out if it is:rolleyes:. There is great potential there with a high rise precedent at a rail hub. However the Georgian society etc will lobby heavily so that nothing can be developed that can be seen from anywhere.

I still havent managed to find any images. so it is still on course? for the moment anyway 🙂

Think there is alot of possibility to do something exciting, hawkins house, apollo house etc are universally hated within the city. But wouldnt like to comment on the plan until I had seen it.

Its on the DCC website- released quite recently-looks good, nothing will happen for a few years now though- would have been controversial a few years ago

the big issue with all this is that Tara station should be moved and the bridge pulled down… and form the college green triangle site… O’Connell St will suffer

Some of the forms for the buildings within the Hawkins house/ Apollo house etc site seem quite awkwardly shaped to me, maybe I am just being finicky?

      yeah the resemblance is striking…
I think its a difficult site trinity on one side the Liffey on the other and that’s why they go all triangle I think there is no hiding this from trinity square in the middle
