notjim. That second view of O’Connell Street, the one you posted yesterday, the statue in the right foreground at the top of Westmoreland Street, it is wearing a frockcoat and a German helmet isn’t it?
Have I misjudged Dublin Corporation all these years.
It is just hair: I am sure someone can tell us who it is. it is funny, the views are much clearer through the viewer, the individual figures are much easier to see when they are separated by perceived depth from the background.

You can also see them in 3D by blurring your eyes until the two images line up

Yes, I was getting carried away there. It appears to be just the William Smith O’Brien statue. There are two views of the Carlisle Building in Maurice Gorham’s ‘Ireland from Old Photographs’, 1971, that show the statue before it got moved to O’Connell Street.
