      Fresh from vanishing the poor unfortunate bollards, who never did a bit of harm to anyone, the latest oddity on the Green are large planks of wood tied to the railings.

      Once again the Iveagh House side is the scene and there are relatively high planks of wood tied, about every 30m or so, to the railings.

      It seems improbable that it is for hanging the (political) person of your choice from the trees in Stephens Green, as the old, old song has it.

      Illumination is being thrown on it?

      The wood now has rectangular Sodium type light fittings attached to the top at a slightly oblique angle.

      What is happening is that the trees along the outside are being cut down, and immediately replaced with smaller, similar trees.

      A very neat job and nearly done this morning on the Iveagh House side.
