Businessmen To Make ‘Spike’ Souvenirs
TWO of Ballyhoo’s best-known businessmen are set to make the most of Dublin’s much talked about Millennium Spire.
Eugene McArdle from Ballyhoo Electrical and Robert ‘Ruby’ O’Shea from O’Sheas Car Parts have joined forces to manufacture scale models of the new monument, which should be on sale by St Patrick’s Day. ‘Our Spike souvenirs will be approximately 30 inches long when fully extended, and made out of 100% recycled materials from Ballyhoo,’ Eugene explains. ‘The wooden bases will be made from disused railway sleepers, and the spikes themselves come from disused car aerials. They are perfectly to scale and the right colour, and tourists will love them because they can push down the aerials to fit in their luggage. They can also opt to recreate the three stages of the Spike’s erection earlier this month by elongating it to the appropriate length.’
