Good news for the South City Markets in the form of Dunnes Stores have finally applied for Planning permission to remove and replace the hideous shopfront on the Exchequer Street frontage. Finally the view from Dame Court will be improved – and about time too.
🙂
Talking of south city Markets, is there any plans for the Derelict Market just off Thomas St, on Francis Street?
I’d imagine there’d be plenty of businness for a larger supermarket in this area.
Would a large supermarket want to keep the façade? Surely they would want large windows. Could not it be used for small traders, in much the same way as the Long hall in Great Georges Street South is? Or is it too far from the tourist area – would local custom make it pay?
