Inactivealthough I haven’t been in Sligo for a while, to the best of my knowledge, nothing is happening with it. Mind you, if any commentator follows development in Sligo, this will not be a surprise. If ever there was a mickey mouse civic authority this is one. If I had a bean for every proposed development in Sligo that has gone under or has simply faded into the recesses of public consciousness, I would have more beans than I could shake a stick at. In short, don’t hold your breath for any high-rise buildings in Sligo.

InactiveI won’t go into too much detail on the Sligo proposal here (given the title of this thread), but while I normally have quite a welcoming approach towards landmark / high-rise buildings, the site for this building is utterly inappropriate for a stand alone mid-rise/high-rise structure. The hinterland of Sligo is one of great natural beauty and to stick such a building in line with Queen Meave’s cairn on Benbulbin benefist nobody but the people who would stay in the building. It would be a terrible shame to stick it on the proposed site.
