ParticipantHaving just completed my degree in Architectural Technology i have myself wanting to go on and presue a Degree in Architecture. Now here comes my questions:
1. Would having a degree in Architectural Technology be almost the same as having a degree in Architecture say after about 10 years work experience – such that college is only any opening in to the real world of architecture and you will only use about 10% of what you have actuallly learnt in college in a working practice that you will learn as you go along?
2. Could you rate colleges that you would think would be the top 5 throughout europe?
Thanking you in advance.

ParticipantCourses in Architecture and Architectural technology are seperate because the focus of both is different.
I do not think that after 10 years of work experience you will hae the same qualifications. Yes maybe the smae skills.
The study of a subject is there so that a person under gudance can open themselves up to eplor the world of the subject.
If you were to go out and get a job you will end up in a few diferent offices, and be subjected to whatever they do, without knowing yourself what it is that you are interested in. This is where an architectural education in vital. To know yourself and what aspects of the architectural world you are intested in, therby being able to make choices on the direction you want to go in when you reach the work place.
With regards to schools, different ones have recognition for different things, some are art based, conceptual, graphic, consturctional etc. There are many factes to architecture and in choosing a scholl I would think about what it is you are interested in and choose that way. Whats good for one may not be for another, this is what makes our world so interesting
