We will shortly be switching the boards so that registration will be needed, so as to protect ourselves from online libel.
So can I take this moment to ask you to register your handles?
Ah damn! there goes my rhetorical libelous blasphemy……
just wondering paul… how can registration protect from online libel… all that is required is an email address for verification (?)… anybody can go to exite/hotmail/yahoo/etc etc and register an email address in any name they desire… for instance u know an email address that i have control over but thats about it…
btw… is online libel becoming such an issue ?? even in forums such as this ??
Basically registration means that someone is less likely just to pop up and say that ***** is a child molester etc….
Online Libel is a reality, a friend who has a successful board system was advised by his lawyers to keep it owned by a seperate company with no assets.
As you can understand, I need to protect myself.
Will not be doing it immediately, but I just want the users to register.
There will also be a board upgrade shortly.
