ParticipantDuring a short holiday in Dublin, we spent an afternoon exploring the James St/Thomas St area after visiting the Storehouse and fully sympathise with the forum members who are indignant at the deliberate running-down of those lovely Georgian buildings. I have two questions for somebody who knows that area. (perhaps GregF, PVC King, Papworth, etc)
(1) During our exploration, we had a late lunch at the pub directly opposite the tram entrance to St James Hospital. I’ve forgotten the name of this pub. What is it?
(2) We noticed that between the Storehouse and St James St is a church. Is this St James church? Is it a “going concern” or also boarded up? (We didn’t have time to get up there to see.) Does it predate the brewery or was it built for those brewery workers that were religious—-or possibly the Guinness family itself?
Many thanks.
