ParticipantIASA- irish architectural students association
Visit and public lecture by architectural theoretician jahanni pallassama
Mon 12- thr 15 march 2001, bolton street D.I.T.second architectural students open forum
theme ” direction of architecture in todays world”
all day thr 15th march 2001, U.C.D.public exhibition of irish architectural student work
thr 15 – sat 17 march 2001, bolton street D.I.T.we the irish architectural students association (IASA) are running the second student forum this years theme; “direction of architecture in todays world”.
2 years ago D.I.T. hosted the first forum, “architecture and education†from which came a week long forum on this topic last year with guests from overseas.
We would like this forum to become an annual event, the venue being rotated between the 3 schools each year
We believe that forums such as these will increase the understanding between the 3 schools, further improve the quality of our education, teach students new and valuable skills, promote better communication and cooperation between the schools on this island and keep up us with the pace of change in this world.
This years theme ” direction of architecture in todays world” will look at issues such as changing technology and its consequences on the world, the atmosphere in the schools, changing views on what architecture is, problems on this island; violence, corruption, city sprawl, apathy, death of culture.
Along with this forum we will have an exhibition of student work from the 3 schools which will be open to the public. This will be an opportunity for students to show their ideas and ability. It will also serve as a medium to get feedback from guest architects and the public.
The famous architectural theoretician jahanni pallassama will be coming to bolton street for a few days and will be giving a public lecture, this will slot in with the forum and exhibition and should be a very exciting time
On Saturday the 17 of march is st patricks day and that will end the week in celebrating life in a truly urban way, full city parade and party
We hope you will be able to attend these events and will contribute
It promises to be a fun filled educational and very exciting few daysYours sincerely
