Hackett + Hall were announced winners of this design competition last month, but I’ve only come across images of it now………..OMAC is a Belfast based arts centre which focuses on theatre, music, dance, visual art ….. the new centre will be built in the Cathederal Quarter, just north of Belfast city centre main (it’s kind of like TB, but it doesn’t have the same density of art buildings as TB and it is much rougher) H+H are clearly inspired by scandavian architecture and particularly Aalto, a very thoughtful practice and nice guys too!

*front entrance* they are planning so much redeveloment here and much has started that I find it hard to establish my bearings as to where the main entrance is (although those railing look like the perimeter of the cathederal) http://www.riba.org/fileLibrary/jpg/Hackett_Hall_front_small.jpg
…H + H are a young practice maybe operating 5 years, but I think we’ll hear more from them in the future….
…this is the second major arts venue to announced for belfast the other being O’Donnell + Tuomey’s Lyric theatre (H+H were joint winners incidentally) http://www.odonnell-tuomey.ie/webpage/lyric/lyric.htm
