ParticipantI work with Irish language TV programmes in RTE. (Scannal, Léargas etc) We are planning to film some reconstructions for a historical documentary in the Bunratty Folk park. However there is one location not available in the folk park which we need – an interior that would pass as a 1920s/30s courthouse. We need to find a location in the same region as the Bunratty folk park for budgetary reasons. Is anyone aware of an old out of use courthouse in the region, with intact interior, or of something that might possibly pass for same with some selective camerawork? All suggestions appreciated.

InactiveEnnis Court House was refurbished a couple of years ago and they tried to restore as much as possible the original courtrooms while improving acoustics and accessibility. It’d require removing microphones and stuff but might be an option.
Download the pdf in this search for pictures…

InactiveTwo buildings in Limerick City spring to mind . . . . . .
Maybe the former city council meeting room (image 1 below) in the old town hall on Rutland Street still exists? This building is now vacant (Planned Opera Shopping Centre).
Also nearby on Bridge Street is the old courthouse (image 2 below) which in turn became a school. There might be a slight possibility that one of the rooms there could be suitable for your purposes.
P.S. Could you drop a word with your RTE boss about the poor access to Irish produced programs for us ex-pats. See previous post. 🙂
