ParticipantThe final section of the Ntl Museum has just been revealed from behind it’s scaffolding and it looks amazing after it’s restoration.
Its the section clamped in between Leinster House and the rotunda of the Museum.
The stonework is sparkly clean, with the sandstone pilasters and cornice giving off a wonderful buttery glow in the sunshine. The capitals are as crisp and sharp as they were 120 years ago, and the contrast between the different textures & colours once again clearly evident.A real must see. (preferably when sunny)

ParticipantI was really surprised at the colour that came through when the first part was finished. They even did a great job bringing through the colour of the stone into the window frames. Well done to all!
Talking about scaffolding, does anyone know what’s to happen to the facade of the building to the right of the Millenium Wing of the National Gallery?. No work seems to have started yet.

ParticipantYeah, its been like that for months and months, I pass it every day and nothing at all has happened for half a year or so. The scaffolding is a real eysore and detracts from the Gallery’s facade.

Participantwell they have just put up a planning notice: restore everything, reinstate this and that, change of use to offices, staff tea rooms etc i guess they need to save up for it too and for the “finger building” to provide access to the roof garden.
