I hope this is an acceptable place to raise the following query…
I am wondering where I might find an old photograph of Grafton Street, specifically that building which now houses McDonalds.
From 1805 to the early 1950s, it was Mitchell’s restaurant and cafe.
I’d be interested in exterior or interior views. I’d prefer a 1940s or 1950s shot but I’d probably take what I could get.
I have already tried the National Photographic Archive and the National Library. I’ve found plenty of pics of Grafton Street but, curiously, not a single shot of that portion of the street. A photo looking east along Wicklow Street might well suffice.
I have also tried Mitchell’s Wine Merchants on Kildare Street. It is the same company, but they were unable to help.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Check out the boxes of photographs (filed by county and, for Dublin, by street) in the reading room of the Irish Architectural Archive, 73 Merrion Square.

Great range of photos from around the country but I felt the reproduction quality was not as high as it could have been.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!
