InactiveI was wondering does anyone know where I’d find information / plans on the fort (Dublin Corpo?)
Was thinking of using it for the Building Project I had mentioned of in an earlyer thread..
Thanks

InactiveI’d try the OPW.
You might also try Downes & Associates, a firm of structural engineers that were engaged to do conservation work on it a few years back.
Alternatively a trip to the Dublin City Archives on Pearse St might get you some info.

InactiveJust to let you know I rang Downes & Associates and was put in contact with a Paul Arnold & Associates Conservation Architects who have said that upon confirmation by someone in the OPW they will release existing survey plans.
Thanks again for the suggestions

InactiveHi !
I came across this thread while searching for info on the Magazine fort.
I am a student in DIT and am searching for a building for a adaptive reuse project
and I was wondering if you ever got hold of the plans for it?

Howrya,
I’m still waiting to hear back from the company that was contracted by the OPW.
My progress has slowed a tad because where I am based for college during the week has very bad internet coverage.

InactiveUH OH 😡
The OPW have denied the surveyors permission to release drawings to me so I think I’m back to the drawing board unless someone has a big ass ladder they want to lend me to climb the wall!!!:D

InactiveFocus – Check out the following and contact the OPW directly
http://www.opw.ie/en/media/foi_manual02.pdf
It states the following at the start:
The OPW is disposed to conduct its business in as open and transparent a manner
as possible. It will, therefore, attempt to make information available outside the
formal procedures of the Act, subject to the general scope of exemptions in the
Act, if this is the preferred option of the person seeking the information. In Part
3 of this reference book where the heading ‘Information Available’ is included,
under the entry of a Section/Unit of the Office, this indicates information that can
be obtained without using the Act.Part 3 also lists for each Section/Unit of the Office, under the heading ‘Classes of
Records Held’, the topics on which records are held in each area. It may not be
necessary to use the Act to access the information held in these records. Please
contact the relevant official (see ‘Contact Name’ under the relevant Section/Unit
entry in Part 3) who will advise whether the information required can be provided
to you directly or whether you will have to make a formal FOI request in order to
access the information. (Section 2.2.2 following tells you how to make a formal
application under the Act).See Section 3.4.1 – Information Available. Maps/Drawings/Plans for ll completed projects and project designs including feasibility studies can be accessed without recourse to using the Freedom of Information Act. This is the guy you apparently need to talk to:
Mr. Frank Fingleton,
Project Management Services,
OPW,
51 St. Stephen’s Green,
Dublin 2.
Tel: (01) 647 6449
Fax: (01) 647 6470
Email: frank.fingleton@opw.ieFailing that. Use the FOI Act.
Good luck
