I wonder if the moderators would consider locking the ‘Developments in Cork’ mega thread?
It has over 2000 posts and it’s impossible to find anything on the thread.
Now that there is a full Cork forum, it would be so much more useful if people created new threads for each development, site, topic rather than just all talking randomly on this one single enormous thread. It completely defeats the purpose of a discussion forum!
I don’t mean to be ratty, but it is really making the forum totally inaccessible to anyone, like me, who only visits occasionally.
Keep the thread on the forum for historical and reference value, but please lock it to prevent further posts being lost in the mists of time!

I would have no problem – i would prefer different threads on aspects / areas of Cork like we have for Dublin.
I can split the existing mega thread up into other threads

That would be great!
It just seems a shame to have all of this interesting information being shoved into a single thread.
I know this mega-thread only came about because there was no specific Cork forum in the past. However, there is really no need for it to continue.
It’s a bit like having a filing cabinet, but keeping all your documents in a jumbled mess in one giant folder shoved in to the top drawer.
It’s discouraging people from taking part in the discussions as it’s almost impossible to find topics.

I agree
Now that Cork is a separate forum, the thread is an anachronism.

I’ve started stripping stuff out and adding to other threads.. it will take a while but i suggest you follow the Dublin example – threads for major developments or individual streets, suburbs and areas….

I’d actually argue the opposite. The development scene has gone so quiet, I’m not sure there’s enough of interest to keep much discussion going.
Since it has gone so quiet, I was about to write up a summary of some of the current and new developments in the city in that thread (a la Lexington!), but if I have to start a new thread for each one, I don’t think it’s worth it.
