Would like to simply see the word IRELAND spelt out in the seat design. Would be nice if Orange could feature also but suspect that in deference to the rugby guys it will be a simple green & white

Could they not compromise ? Rugby emblem on one side with the soccer one on the other. Like the San Siro in Milan where the two major soccer clubs in that city share the ground. And on reflection, would Aviva not insist on their corporate logo being displayed in the seating arrangements ?

However, while it makes no difference when there is a capacity crowd in attendance, I would prefer if the seating colour complemented the rest of the structure. Bright multicoloured seats would do nothing for the sleek silver lines of the rest of the stadium. Croke Park have done well in this regard. The pale blue and grey seats there blend in easly with the overall appearance of the arena, (and indeed, the prevailing skies overhead). Decisions concerning colour are all the more important in open ended (Horse shoe shaped) stadia, which for all intents…. both Croker and Lansdowne are, given the size Hill 16 and the Havelock Square ends respectively.

Maybe…. but if there is, then under that they really are green, with “Ireland” or [sponsers] spelled out in white.
Or at least, so we were told on the recent AAI site visit.

That’s not too far off the point Dude, after all he was the architect of Ireland’s downfall.
Paul McShane has to be culpible too though, he got caught wrong side.
In fact, I’m not sure that fella even knows where the right side is.

The Green seats suffice and will do nicely. No need for Orange, for that colour despite being incongruously on our national flag is the preserve of the British community aspect of NI….who don’t seem to use it either, bar on the 12th of July every year.

Anyone ever see some of the GAA grounds around the country where they have multicoloured seats side by side – a block of blue beside red beside yellow beside green etc….looks fucking awful and cheap.

Btw, great having two national stadia….Croker and Lansdowne. Remember the day when we had SFA.

Not forgetting Tallaght and Thomond …….and the RDS.

The Board has just confirmed DCC’s decision to grant pp for the Aviva Stadium name signage – one on the east and one on the west of the Stadium – dismissing arguments that it represented a contravention of the development plan, would negatively impact heritage, distract Dart drivers (?), cause D4 to explode, finish off the polar bears etc etc.

That cropped Havelock Square end certainly gives the stadium quite a strange shape when viewed from the air!

On the whole, it’s going to be a terrific venue for Irish sport but unfortunately theres no getting away from the fact that the capacity is just too small!! 🙁
