KeymasterThis is the second event the Arts Council has initiated to enable both architects and theatre practitioners to develop a mutual understanding for the needs of arts spaces and to explore and develop new ways of working. Enid Reid Whyte, Drama Specialist, and I strongly urge you to take advantage of this very special opportunity and ask you to invite your colleagues along.
Jean-Guy Lecat is a theatre creator working specifically with space, dimension, architecture and design. A visionary with over 30 years experience Lecat has conceived, rebuilt and animated many theatres and performance spaces around the world. He is best known for his 25 year collaborative relationship with Peter Brook and some of his most note worthy projects Include the Harvey (formerly known as the Majestic), in New York, The Tramway in Glasgow and Theatre de la Gare d’Orsay in Paris. Lecat is also a teacher who has delivered workshops and seminars on space, environment and the theatrical process over many years
Following a four-day workshop Jean Guy will be leading an open forum for debate, questions and the sharing of ideas on Friday August 29th at the Peacock Theatre. The day is open to anyone interested in theatre design and architecture and we would be delighted if you could attend.
The day will be split into two sessions. The morning, from 10 a.m. will be concentrating on the specific discoveries of Jean Guy and the workshop participants from the preceding four days, in the afternoon there will be an open clinic.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to discuss and debate issues of space, design and architecture with one of the world’s leaders in the field of theatre creation and design. Admission is free however we would be grateful if you could confirm attendance by Wednesday 25th through The Arts Council on 01 6180253 or email aisling@artscouncil.ie
