Inscribed histories: burial grounds, folk art and archaeology

INSCRIBED HISTORIES: 8-9 JUNE 2007 Monaghan County Council and the County Monaghan Heritage Forum are holding a two day conference entitled INSCRIBED HISTORIES: BURIAL GROUNDS, FOLK ART AND ARCHAEOLOGY. Inscribed Histories will highlight and explore the cultural and heritage elements of our burial places, focusing on sites within Co. Monaghan, drawing on international and national expertise. The conference will disseminate research on burial ground archaeology, symbolism and lettering and will inform about best practice in relation to the care and conservation of these sites. The conference will finish with an afternoon of field visits to sites in Monaghan.
