Aaah the perennial HIghs and Low thread…. with all the usual suspects! LOL

      HIGHS
The removal of adverts from the Loop Line and its painting
Grand Canal Plaza and the revamped MacMahon Bridge
      Alto Vetro
Progress at least on Spencer Dock and Point Village – lots more to come in 2008!
      Gormleys Pissing Man! Why not!
      Landsdowne on its way
Chistmas lights along the Campshires! They look great…anyone spot Graham and his camera
      CHQ at last – Hurray!
Grattan and Moore get a clean

      LOWS
Pier D – its still miles to walk and whats the point of those bitty travelators!
The loss of the trees at the Spire due to cleaning and no kiosks
Proper signage and street furniture in the city centre falls victim to commercial gain
The Clarence revamp – wont get past the Board.
Where is Luas BX!!! and have DCC even thought about an integrated city centre plan once its in place!!!
The depressingly dull quays – will they ever change

      Highs

      National conference centre hotel
Reaction of DCC to Clarence hotel proposal
DDDA losing their low height policy
      Titanic quarter Belfast
      French & Italian retail

      Lows
Confirmation that the metro will have a crap fit out
Confirmation that O’Connell St will be destroyed during the construction of metro
The sub-prime paralysis that has hit the credit markets

Is this thread exclusive to Dublin projects or does anything happen outside the Pale ?

      It shows.

Dublin all the hassles of a big city and none of its conveniences.

      New York – WOW.

LOWS – the destruction of the ODOS extension to Knocktopher Friary by the clients. Not that anyone seems to know anything about it!

      Some highs …

      – Cork Institute of Technology, perhaps slightly 06 (ish!)
      – Central Library decision
      – Grand Canal Square, both plaza & surrounding buildings
      – National Conference Centre finally under construction, that thread started in 1999 for God’s sake !
      – Thomand Park, taking shape fast, great addition to Limerick.
      – Point Theatre redevelopment, the city badly needs a decent venue, the RDS is proving to be a poor substitute.
      – Revised DDDA thinking, even if it is producing odd results.
