I don’t get this either really…what will be the appeal of looking at the roof of the Point & a few container ships in the docks, there isn’t much else in the general area. Something like this should be in the centre of the city not on the perimeter.
It shouldnt be built anywhere in the city though for that matter, Crosbie’s wasting his money. -

The market is interesting in theory, but i am very sceptical of it actually working at The Point/O2.
Smithfield is central, on the luas line and has ample parking but any market there has failed to take off.
For a market to work in Dublin it would most likely need to build on an existing tradition, an existing need, diverse uses/markets + a diverse demographic…. like Meath St/ Thomas St?
I think the big wheel is a mistake. Its been been done before and done better before. We need to have higher aspirations than becoming a pale imitation of what has been recently done in Britain. Perhaps we are too used to being just that.

Actually PTB this has been done before, most notably in London and there’s even one in Belfast.

I think the sarcasm evaded you there joe 😉
Terrible location, exceptionally stupid. Half of it will have you staring at the wall of the point, or some cars on the other side. Idiots. Only 60m high too? I though it was supposed to be 80? They should park it in spencer dock somewhere.
The market sounds great though, and its on a luas line so shouldnt have too much trouble pulling people… this area should be more interesting than smithfield.
