Fusilier’s Arch, Stephen’s Green

I know that this is not strictly an architectural query, but is anybody able to verify the story that one of the name on the monument is that of a soldier who was not dead, but who had gobe AWOL and who later returned to Dublin. Or is it just an urban myth?
