I have often thought that Dublin lacks a centre point, or point of congregation. I have already expressed my reservations about Smithfield, though I don’t blame the architect for that but the Government for their lack of vision. Any great city has a square where people can congregate and meet. Dublin doesn’t have one. Likewise, the Government doesn’t seem to appreciate buildings of historic merit into consideration.

I have to confess if there is one thing I hate is ‘the box office’. This of course is the fault of the greedy builder and not the architect. In my humble opinion, buildings should have curves, gables, arches and domes and courtyards with Rochesque gardens, especially in inner city Dublin.
