How did this go? Couldn’t make it tonight and I was disappointed as I think Pauline has the most comprehensive body of work published by any planning academic/researcher regarding Dublin in the past 10 years or so.

InactiveTommy, it was very well delivered and interesting. Particularly in terms of its relevance to Dublin and its development in recent years. As well as providing a critical analysis of the situation in Sydney, Pauline also discussed some of the ways in which problems are being addressed. This was mainly focused on the publication of City of Cities: A Plan for Sydney’s Future in 2005, and how it has marked a return to metropolitan wide planning.

Thanks Phil. I will peruse the link later:) – After having a quick shufty and that’s a very impressive document-Puts the NSS to shame (I know that’s easy!). The modelling of what Sydney would look like if sprawl was allowed to cintinue unchecked is a great idea. Something similar for the GDA would have embellished the NSS no end. A good project for a dedicated students’ dissertation maybe?
