I got word today that the feature building at Vantage will be lauched shortly and that it will be completed by mid 2008. It looks like another highrise will be going up soon so. I heard it will be 16 storeys.
was lookin at dublin corpo traffic cams (closest to dublin i get these days)
and spotted this for Dorset street / Frederick street

That green structure is the Temple Theatre, beside Temple Street Hospital….It’s had that wrapped around it for yonks….

Took a trip around docklands earlier and the pace and extent of developement there is truly breathtaking. I was just wondering when the 35 storey U2 tower is getting under construction? In a Dublin context that building would look quite big and it is an exciting development as it should give the council and bp the confidence to get on with highrise/skyscraper development.
Also the heuston gate tower. When is that due to get underway? That area is about to undergo massive regeneration. Eircom are to be the first tennants in the new 9 storey westgate development opposite heuston. Hopefully these two developements will compliment each other however I have concerns about the architecture of the heuston gate tower. It dosnt look like particularly exciting architecture. I certainly hope its not Hawkins house round 2 stuff:eek: Cheers

I think that one will be done in 2011. Does anyone else think this is a very long time? I know the context is very different, but (and im sure this is a very sophomoric arch. factoid) The Empire State was built in a year.
Why does it take us 5?I think you’re right about the design – it’s like some vaguely exciting London borough re-dev project in the late eighties.

5 years seems rediculous to me. Typically Irish really. We need to think bigger and get things built quicker:confused:
It’s not that the physical construction will take that long – there are other more mundane considerations like finding homes for the existing tenants on that particular site.

I am looking forward to seeing the new Beckett Bridge with the two towers on either side of it – it’s a start at least.
