Is this the old garage site just behind Zanzibar pub. If it is, then they could access Capel Street and South Quays by Strand Street itself though it might be a tight turn onto Capel Street and can get very congested. There is still a single car lane in operation for most of the length of Abbey Street, which is relatively unused. I reckon this is partly a response to the Wellington Quay incident.
Yes – and buses into strand street is a daft idea given the corners involved
I think its a great idea, to finally give Dublin a proper bus station, what they could do is level half of liffey St and the crap at the start of strand St to provide access that wouldn’t affect the Luas and the buses could come back out at Capel St.
What I don’t understand is the financing, who would want to live in an apartment above a bus station? A shopping centre linked to the Jervis Centre by pedestrian bridge would make much more sense and complete the link into Quartier Bloom & Temple Bar started by the Millenium Bridge.
