DLRCOCO Planning Shambles

I agree that there are plenty of developers and builders who take liberties in this regard there are occasions where I have some sympathy for them.
I have had to supervise a number of projects on site where the drawings called for some walls to be demolished and for numerous new openings etc. That type of demolition is just not possible – best case scenario most of the thing gets kncked down and rebuilt – the designer has a part responsibility.

Same happened in my locality.

At 68 Woodlawn Park, Churchtown, Jamor Developments obtained planning permission for a small extension and internal modifications, the everyday kind that would not raise any objections / observations,

They then proceeded to demolish the whole house apart from the north wall and chimney, and basically buillt a new house, applying for retention permission when it was completed ( granted without a bother).

Is there no way to stop this blatant breach?

Does anybody have any advice as to what to do about illegal demolition?

In my neighbourhood, there has been another case where permission was granted for partial demolition. However , over a weekend, the whole of the semi – detached house was demolished apart from one corner and part of the attached roof.

I’m new to this thread so apologies if this has been brought up before – I’ve done as thorough a search as I could before posting, but can’t find any reference here or elsewhere to the demolition of the terraced cottages in Annaville Avenue [Road?] off Newtownpark Ave near Blackrock in Co. Dublin to make way for some dubious road development.
This little area is the remant of what used to be an independent village, with its own shops, post office, pubs [one of which is now replaced by a thatched horror housing a TGIF etc.]. I grew up around there, and returned recently to find some of the houses boarded up already and was horrified to learn of their likely fate.
Somebody, some heritage or preservation group MUST have rallied to their defence by now – could anybody point me to any posts on this site that I’ve missed, or any other action being taken re Annaville?

Thanks for pointing me to your posts, Alonso, I didn’t use ‘Yankee Terrace’ for searching and so didn’t find your post. It explains what the road in question is – I couldn’t see any reason why a road is needed there, nor can any of the local people I spoke to, Link to the M50 has been suggested to me, but there has to be a better way..
When I was a kid that area was served by the 6 and 6A buses, and the latter was axed many years ago; a local woman I chatted to at a bus stop recently said she was part of a residents’ group which met with CIE to complain about the withdrawal of the bus service, and was told by one of the CIE people ‘You people all have cars’. Apart from the shortsightedness of encouraging even more car use, many people in that area, e.g. my family and the woman-at-the-bus-stop who was from the large council housing area there, were totally dependent on the bus as we didn’t have cars…
In fairness to Dublin Bus, they have now improved the 114 service on Newtownpark Ave, though ‘improved’ is damning with faint praise, as there used to be just a handful a day!

Yeh we had a good oul battle with DLR and ABP. The inspector’s report was one of the most ferocious rebuttals of any scheme i’ve ever seen but the Bord went on and fcking approved it. There’s a particular engineer down there who pushed this nonsense through and the manager, despite a weighty tome of contrary rhetoric in his back catalogue, also recommended pursuing this scheme. It amazes me how backward some people in the upper echelons of administration in this country are.

It seems that the CPO order for Yankee tce has met resistance and has gone to arbitration. The street battles go on but the war is over, unfortunately

You’re not thinking of the big picture, Alonso. Journey times between Dun Laoghaire and Stillorgan may be reduced by 30 seconds. No pain, no gain.

Yeh Frank, think of the economic upswing a 30 second gain on a journey no-one makes can bring to a County! 🙂

DLRCC will no doubt have my vote when it comes time to voting for the most efficient CC.;)

Under the planning acts, it is open to a private party to take enforcement proceedings themselves against unauthorised developments in the High Court…so it’s not just the Councils that have that power, check it out

DLRCOCO have re-opened the submissions on their issues paper for the draft County Development Plan.

Don’t know if this is under the right thread but anyway! Saw this in the paper today http://www.independent.ie/national-news/supporter-feeling-blue-after-8364150-fine-1748890.html I really think DLRCOCO have gone a bit too far! Obviously some Munster planner working in there!! At least they didn’t ruin the spirit anyway!!

The Devil makes work for idle hands . Hopefully the Bord Snip Nua recomendation to axe positions in the “public service” will be felt .
