As part of the phased redevelopment of Curragh Race-course in Kildare, UK-based EPR Architects were enlisted to devised a new hotel scheme on site providing 72 bedrooms, conference facilities, leisure centre and large bar/restaurant facilities overlooking the race course. The 4-star hotel building looks to the south over the racecourse with balconies and stepped terraced lawns providing viewing points on race days. The intention is that the building will sit alongside and link into the main grandstand and will enable conferences, exhibitions and events to take place on non race days but will also function efficiently on race days. The proposal is currently in planning.

      Southern Elevation – facing race-course.

      Northern Elevation – main approach.

This is one of EPR’s first ventures into the Irish market with the practice assessing a possible opening of an Irish-based office sometime in the future. The firm has also been responsible for some major designs on development proposals such as that at Cardinal Place and York House, both in London.

      Any opinions???
