      Just going through a grant of PP for 30 housing units. The Council has imposed a 300K “special development” charge for “amenity” which is way out of line with other recent PPs granted. Around 80K would be in line with other planning permission grants.

      What exactly is “amenity” supposed to cover?

      Street lighting, parks, play grounds, and much more.

      If your not happy with the charge, you can challenge it. I have been involved where these charges have been reduced significantly on challenging it i.e. 1 million to 450 k. Best get a planning consultant to investigate it and represent you.
