Archiseek did run a little campaign to have the Broadstone station reopened as a metro stop but they went for Drumcondra instead. There has been word of mouth that the station will be sold by Dublin Bus but so far that seems a bit premature.
The proposed Lucan Luas line (Line D) will go by the old station coming up from O’Connell Street, using the Luas Red & Green line link up (Line BX) and head up to Liffey Jtn using the old railway alinement. Afraid no plans so far for the old building :confused:
It would appear that the site beside the station (two houses and a petrol station) might be redeveloped at some stage in the near future.
That Hendrons water tower must have a record for the most phone antenae per square metre in the city; it would make a very interesting loft apartment scheme.
The Bus Eirreann facility Broadstone Station really would be better served by a relocation to a purpose built facility on the M50 like Dublin Bus did with the relocation of Ringsend Garage to Horizon Logisitics park. What to do with the building is the million dollar question.
Permission was sought for an apartment development at Hendrons some time ago but it was refused, if I remember rightly!
It’s currently in artists’ studios.
