      I know this is a bit weird, but does anyobdy know if that ‘sculpture’ (looks like 4 Angels) in front of the Thomas Davis monument on College Green is a fountain? I have stood opposite it so many times waiting for my bus down the years and I keep wondering if it actually is a fountain (it looks like it is) and if so why is it never turned on????
      p.s. the song writer of ‘Angels’ sung by Robbie Williams claims that it was the inspiration for the song!!

      Yes, it is a fountain. When it was erected first, water used to come out through the trumpets. I think it was switched off because people used to throw washing powder in: I remember often seeing it with soapsuds billowing out.

      The four ‘angels’ represent the four provinces of Ireland.
