      Designed by Keith Williams Architects

The 1, 450 sq m building, located on Jubilee Road, Clones, was constructed at a cost of over €7 million by Monaghan County Council aided by 75 per cent funding from the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government. The library now boasts some 22,000 books, almost a 100 per cent increase on its previous stock, while its previous four computers has increased to fourteen complete with internet access.

Are those sprinklers hanging down out of the skylights?

Does anyone else feel as though the architects forgot to detail the ceiling? The exposed beams kinda jar with the crisp walls

…I think the exposed concrete works well, the variety of texture and colour ehances the space……. would it be fair to say that the quality of public architecture has been pretty good over the past 10 years…..or is that we only hear about the RIAI winners or whatever……

I particularly like the exposed concrete ceiling myself althought the hanging sprinklers do look an afterthought.

No, Local authorities are quite good at building high quality offices and libraries, arts centers and such.

I’ll make a list of the local authority buildings:

Aras Cill Dara – Naas. Heneghan Peng
Cork City Hall Extension – ABK
Limerick County offices – Bucholz McAvoy
Aras Contae an Clar – ???
Fingal County Council – Bucholz McAvoy
Cork County Hall – Shay Cleary
Athlone County Hall – Kieth Williams

There’s more but I cant think of them.
