I think kudos are due to the Corporation for their magnificent restoration of City Hall. The stonework looks magnificent and the insertion of dark glass into the windows just brings to mind architectural drawings.

Well done, the building looks stunning.

The exhibition in the vaults is pretty interesting, but the best bit is the vaults themselves. There is a lovely circular room with a massive central column holding the vaulting.

They should erect a building on the site of the misconstrued park to the right of City Hall. This park is just superficially attractive and a former derelict site containing statues from a classical building which once stood. It would be much better to reinstate the street line and show City Hall within it’s original context.Perhaps a red brick edifice as a contrast to the Portland stone of City Hall.

You’ll be glad to learn that a fence has been erected around the pocket park beside City Hall. as far as I know, David Mackay from Barcelona has been commissioned to design a new building for the site, to shore up the exposed party wall of the Sick and Indigent Roomkeepers. And about time too!

Hurray to that…….as I had said before this park is a real misconstrued temporary looking job and an infill would be greatly welcome here. Good to see some foreign involvement in the guise of D.Mackey. I’d only hope that his Spanish brother’s bridges would get off the ground too…….that being Dr.Calatrava.

I thought Mackay was a Scot.
