      Hi, my company is about to rent a premise in dublin which currently has planning permiss for office, but we want to run doctor surgery (3 consultation rooms and 1 treatment room).
      My question is: do we need to apply for change of use? If so, change of use from office to medical centre or doctor surgery or maybe clinic or health centre? None of the management and owner is a medicine doctor. Where is actually difference between medical centre and doctor surg. or health centre in Irish Law?

      Any answer appreciated.

      David

      Are there grounds for a reasonable person to object to the change of use if say a planning permission were lodged? if yes then you need planning permission.

      thats a bit of an eccentric statement..!

      the easiest way to find out if a change of use is required is to find out under what class of development it is (existing and proposed) in the regs.

      and on doing so you find that offices for professional services is class 2;
      while use as a health center or clinic or the provision of any medical services is Class 8;

      therefore you need planning permission for change of use

      it is my experience that ANY query regarding necessity of planning permission is always met with a ‘put in an application anyway, to be sure’ answer from the LA…….
