I’m delighted to see that at least one of the kiosks is finally being used. I passed there this morning and there were two young women working with an impressive array of plants and flowers. It looked great.

There is lots of discussion about them on this thread (although it is not solely devoted to them).

HAVE U SEEN THE KIOSK ON THE ADELAIDE ROAD. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL KIOSK THAT SHOWS A FINE EXAPMPLE OF IRISH EDWARDIAN ARCHITECTURE AND IS STILL IN USE BOTH AS A KIOSK AND AS A PUMPING STATION. I FOUND IT HAD TO BELIEVE THAT IT IS NOT A PROTECTED STRUSTURE WHEN IT SHOULD BE. THANKFULLY THE OWNER THINKS IT SHOULD BE PROTECTED AND IS DOING WHAT HE CAN FOR THE BUILDING. I THINK THE IRISH NEED TO WAKE UP TO THE BEAUTY OF THESE LITTLE STRUCTURES

Turns the “caps lock” off Claire – it’s the internet equivalent of shouting

Claire: I think we had a chat about the Adelaide Road kiosk a few months back. You should do a search and take a look

The Kiosk at Leeson St has full planning permission for tables and chairs to be put outside the shop and will next spring be doing business as a cafe and mini convenience store, Ned already sells decent coffee but it is only take away at present.

The yokes on Grattan bridge unlike ned’s cafe don’t have planning permission and they certainly don’t have anywhere near as much circulation space as the Leeson St Kiosk.

I must admit, I never thought of their lack of planning permission! How did they get around that?
